Affiliate Marketing – An Example Of A Pure Competition Business

When you first started investigating having an online business you probably heard that becoming an affiliate marketer was 1 of the quickest, easiest and least expensive ways to start. You were also told that becoming an affiliate was free and many affiliate programs offered free training and sales material.

Now I’m not going to say that those things aren’t true because they are.

However what they didn’t mention is that affiliate marketing is also a pure competition business. That means in addition to the above there are a large number of independent sellers selling these standardized products and sellers are  “price takers” rather than “price makers”.

In plain English that means when you’re an affiliate marketer you’re competing with possibly thousands of others all selling the same thing at the same price.

And if you’re a new affiliate marketer you’re probably using the pre-written ads, sending people straight to your affiliate page in your advertising and you have no list.

Now if I just described how you’re doing affiliate marketing then I have to say – I’m sorry. You see, if that’s how you’re doing your affiliate marketing you are probably 1 of the 98% who will fail and give up on having an online business.

In a pure competitive business like affiliate marketing where there is no difference in the product, the price or the customer service it’s the marketing and packaging that makes people buy from you over your competition.

So how do successful affiliate marketers package and market to get sales?

They do lots of things however here are the basic 5 they all start with:

  1. 1. They build a site, a blog or a social networking page.
  2. 2. They write an ad about where to get information about the product or the problem the product will solve.
  3. 3. They send people to their site, blog, etc. in their ad.
  4. 4.They have info/sales content on their site, blog, etc. that pre-sells the product.
  5. 5. They have a sign-up form on their site, blog, etc. to build their list.

Yes, affiliate marketing is a quick, easy and inexpensive way to have an online business. However because it’s a pure competition business it’s not as easy as joining an affiliate program, using pre-written ads and sending people to sales pages. You have to do some work and provide something extra to beat your competition.

To Your Success,
Susan

  1. Rylie says:

To make money online with the affiliate business program requires that you will get targeted web site traffic to your principal´s web site ( or to your own ), who will purchase. To be successful at the affiliate program marketing business and to make an income online, you´ll need two things: a strong will and a successful affiliate business program, which matches to you, i.e. you like the kind of affiliate business and you already know a lot of the topic or are willing to learn.
