Increase Web Site Traffic With Traffic Exchange Program – Part 1
Before I explain how to use traffic exchange programs to increase targeted web site traffic you need to understand what traffic exchange programs are and how they work
A Traffic Exchange is sometimes called a ‘Hit’ Exchange and they are another way to get your site promoted. They are a bit like advertising directories. However instead of you finding the pages to look at, each page is presented you. By staying on the presented page for a required number of seconds (anywhere from 6 to 40 seconds) you earn page views for your web page. If you see something that interests you, you may decide to stay longer or even perform the page owners desired action.
Traffic exchanges are free and once you sign up you can add links to your own websites for other members to view. However before you rush off to sign up for some there’s still much more to explain in order for you use them properly.
In this article I’ll explain some of the basics. However to keep this article manageable I’ll be writing additional articles to explain some ways to make traffic exchange programs work for you.
How Traffic Exchange Programs Work – The Credit System
Traffic exchanges operate on a credit system. In other words you earn credits by surfing the pages presented to you. To receive your credit you are required to stay on the page for a specified duration which can be anywhere from 6 to 40 seconds depending on the exchange program. When you have been on the page long enough you’re usually required to simply click on something to get the credit for having seen that site and to go to the next page. These credits are used to show your pages to the other members. Most systems are designed so that you won’t see your own pages while you’re surfing for credit.
Getting guaranteed hits to your website is a very simple process. Basically, the more you surf – the more credits you get – the more times your site is shown.
Many traffic exchange programs also provide other free ways to earn extra credits. Some have competitions, games, emails with links giving a higher number of credits for viewing certain pages or bonus pages where you can simply click a button to receive extra credit. Also, most allow you to build a downline and you earn credits as your downline members surf.
The number of page views you earn by viewing other people’s pages is called the “ratio” and varies from 1 program to another. A few traffic exchange programs offer a 1:1 ratio however most offer 2:1, 3:1 or 4:1 ratio. That means you earn 1 page view for every 2, 3 or 4 pages you surf. Also, most traffic exchange programs offer different membership levels and may give different credit ratios for each level. Free members usually have to do more surfing to earn credits however there are legal ways to speed your surfing so you can earn some significant traffic.
Types Of Traffic Exchanges Programs
There are two different types of traffic exchanges:
* manual surf
* auto surf
Manual surf traffic exchanges require you to click through to receive your credit/s and view the following site. Most have implemented procedures to make sure you are a genuine person. Here are some I’ve run into:
* click on a particular picture, color or symbol
* add or subtract two numbers and pick the correct answer
* the place to click moves to a different place on the page
* the icon to click isn’t always in the same place
* do not click or you’ll be punished links (Click the wrong link 5 times and they delete your membership account.)
As for autosurf exchanges, many, including myself, think they are a waste of time. Autosurf traffic exchanges may be left running without any interaction whatsoever so no-one needs to look at the pages. You simply log in, start surfing and then you can go do something else. When you come back you’ll see you’ve been shown 100s or 1000′s of pages. Obviously, you’re not the only person who set’s and leaves. So did many others. Since no one or, at most, very few see your page then what’s the point?
There are thousands of traffic exchange programs and obviously some are better than others. So in the next few articles I’ll be sharing what I’ve learned from my experiences to help you earn credits quickly, what it takes for your page to be noticed and the best way to find traffic exchange programs and build your downline.
To Your Success,
Susan
P.S. If you decide to try some traffic exchanges before reading the next few articles I recommend you do 2 things:
1. Do not use Internet Explorer while surfing for traffic. All the exchange programs monitor for illegal page activity like hacking and spamming and remove those pages however those types of pages still exist. While surfing with IE I’ve had my machine infected numorous times. I now use FireFox and while I can’t make any guarantees it will keep you 100% safe, I’ve never been infected while using it.
2. Over the years I’ve used more than 30 traffic exchange programs. Some have died out. Some I’ve left for 1 reason or another. Of those I still use, these are my 2 favorites:
