Increase Web Site Traffic With Traffic Exchange Program – Part 3

As I stated in the first article of this series, I recommend manual surfing traffic exchange programs. They’re free, someone has to actually look at the surfing window to get credit and thousands of people use them every day to earn traffic.

Now when I started surfing for traffic credits back in 2002, I was probably like you. I didn’t have my own product, website or list. And I didn’t have much money to spend to start my business or to advertise.

In addition, I didn’t even know about traffic exchange programs until 1 of the affiliate programs I joined mentioned them in their training area. Of course they didn’t offer any advice on how to use the exchange programs other than to use my free affiliate page in them.

And let me tell you. Starting out in network or affiliate marketing in 2002 was a lot different than it is today. There may have been less competition however there was a lot less free information, no free software to build web pages and there were no free social networking sites or blog services. There were a few free autoresponder services and a couple of free hosting sites however all of them put ads on everything you used.

So like other newbies, I submitted my free web page in a couple of traffic exchange programs and tried to spend at least an hour a day surfing to earn a little over 100 page views.

Then 1 day a page caught my attention. It was offering information about a system that taught traffic exchange users how to get 10,000 hits a day – free.

Now before I tell you what this system was I’ve got to tell you about the actual page promoting it. That page had to be 1 of the ugliest web pages online. The background was a soft blue and the only graphics on the page were the 10 banner ads. The only content on the page was the giant headline offering the “10,000 hits a day system”, a sentence or 2 saying how fast and easy it was, the opt-in form and a few text ads.

That page violated just about every rule of web design. And yet, it was an extremely effective page.

So today I’m sharing the secret of how that system worked and why it’s much easier and less expensive to earn web traffic in a short amount of time than it was back then.

Here are the 8 steps for the 10,000 hits a day system:

1. Have your own website. (Today you could use a free social networking site, a blog or use a free WYSIWYG editor to create your sites pages.)

2. Have an autoresponder to build a list. (You still need this and while you can use a free service I’d recommend you get an account at 1 of the more reputable services like Aweber or GetResponse. And yes, those are my uncloaked affiliate links which means I’ll get an affiliate commission if you signup using my link.)

3. Download copies of several web pages. (This step isn’t necessary any longer and I’ll tell you why later.)

4. Join no less than 10 of the free traffic exchange programs and 10 free banner exchange programs shown on the pages you downloaded. And while you could stop at 10, it was recommended that you join all of them and there were about 30. (You still have to do this.)

5. Replace the links to the listed exchange programs on the downloaded pages with your own links and upload the pages to your site. (If you want to do this system on your own you can put your traffic exchange links on your free social networking site or blog.)

6. Upload a copy of the page that caught my attention only this copy has your opt-in form. (Since times have changed, a better looking squeeze or splash page is advisable.)

7. Download a free software program that allowed you to have multiple browser windows viewable on you screen. (Because most popular web browsers now have a tab feature you don’t need to do this.)

8. When you’re first starting, allot a specified amount of time to do some “efficient surfing” every day. (The amount of time you spend surfing may be decreased after you’ve built a good traffic exchange downline and are earning traffic from their work.)

Doing efficient surfing is 1 of the really important parts of this system so I’ll explain.

To be an efficient traffic exchange surfer you:

1. Create a traffic exchange folder in your browser’s bookmarks or favorites.

2. Bookmark your surf url for the exchange programs you’ve joined and place that bookmark in your traffic exchange folder.

3. When you’re ready to surf, open 5 – 10 tabs on your browser. Go to 1 of your surf pages in each of the tabs and start surfing. Go from 1 tab to another, clicking the appropriate link, color, picture, etc. when the timer has run out for each program to earn credit. (The number of tabs depends on how long you must remain on a page to earn credit and how fast your internet connection is. If you must remain for 20 – 40 seconds and have a fast connection you should be able to do at least 10. If the minimum time is 6 – 15 seconds or you have a slow connection, you may be able to surf around 5. When I still had a dial-up connection I could usually do 8 – 10 of the exchanges I was using. I tried doing 14 with my dial-up connection once however things were so slow to load I had to close some of them down. )

4. Remember, you’re surfing for traffic credit so if you see something you’re interested in, always do a right click on any link to have it open in a new window. You can check it out AFTER you’ve earned your traffic credit when you have more time to think about it. (By the way, if you’re using an affiliate page on a traffic exchange and someone opens that site in a new window by right clicking over the header, many times your affiliate information is lost and you won’t get credit if there’s a sale.)

5. While it’s really up to you, I recommend you turn your speakers off and use a popup blocker.

Many people now have audio or video on their traffic exchange pages and they’ve set the volume high enough to wake you in case you’re starting to doze off. And even when they don’t sound like obnoxiously loud commercials, it can be quite annoying to have multiple audio files playing at the same time.

As for popup blockers, they won’t stop all pop-ups however they do help. And fortunately, many of the timed and exit pop-ups you’ll encounter won’t interfere with your surfing and you can ignore them.

Using traffic exchange programs to get free traffic is as good a way now as it was in 2002. The only difference is that now there are more free tools and information. And just like web browsers have evolved so you don’t need special software to open multiple pages in 1 browser window, so has the way to build your traffic exchange downline. But that’s another story I’ll leave for another day.

Oh, and in case you still don’t believe that I’m still using traffic exchange programs I’ll list the 3 I surf most often. Feel free to join my downline because like you, I can always use more traffic. Besides…

They’re all free. They’re all well established and reputable. They’re easy to use. And 2 of them offer easy ways to earn extra traffic.
