How To Create A State-of-the-Art Website
Over the years I’ve written several website design tips and told you where to get some free HTML editing software . Today however I’d like to tell you about the most powerful cheap website design software available.
Now by cheap I don’t mean it’s of poor quality. In fact it’s quality is A+.
By cheap I mean not expensive and since it’s free you can’t get anything cheaper.
Now if you’ve been watching what I’ve been doing with my sites the last couple of months you probably know what software I’m talking about. But just in case you haven’t I’ll tell you.
Today we’re going to be talking about using… WordPress software.
Now before you stop reading because WordPress software is blogging software and you don’t want a blog let me say that WordPress is not just for blogs.
True that’s what it’s designed for however…
WordPress has been evolving and because it’s open source and there are thousands of people creating templates, widgets and plugins for it you can use it for just about any type of website you do want.
Using WordPress software can make your web designing easier for many types of sites.
- Do you want to have all your pages use the same template? WordPress does it automatically.
- Do you want to easily keep your navigation menu updated on all your web pages? WordPress does that.
- Do you want to have a main page that always displays as your home page? Yes, WordPress will do that.
- Do you want to have some special message come up at the top of your home page? Not a problem with WordPress.
- Do you want to restrict some of your content to special people like your subscribers? Then password protect that content with WordPress.
And that’s just with the basic WordPress software!
Now suppose you’d like to put Adsense ads on your site. There’s a free plugin for that.
How about Clickbank ads. There’s a free plugin for that too.
And there are thousands of free plugins to do so much more like…
- automatically creating Google site maps
- adding polls
- adding a favicon
- social bookmarking
Now if you’re wondering how hard it is to install WordPress on your site I’ll tell you that it all depends on how you do it. I have 3 WordPress blogs and 3 different methods were used to set them up.
My first blog, SusanCarrollHome.com was set up using fantastico provided by my host platform Hostgator. It only took a couple of minutes and was very easy. (Here’s a video that shows how quick and easy it was.)
This blog was created by a subscriber using ExpertWordpress installation software. Dan said it only took him a few minutes to fill in the blanks and click the button. (Watch the video on how to use ExpertWordpress.)
I had to manually install the software for my latest blog at FriendsWhoCare.us. This took more than a few minutes because I had to download the software, create the SQL database, modify 1 file and upload the software. (See the video to see how to install WordPress manually.)
Now WordPress may not be for everybody but it’s become my favorite cheap website design software because:
- It’s free
- It’s open source
- There’s lots of plugins and templates
- It can be easily installed
- It makes website maintenance easy
To Your Success,
Susan

Couldn’t have said it better myself. WordPress on your own domain name can’t be beat. I can also add that is the perfect social platform for Web 2.0 interface. There is also a plugin (not free) that will automatically add content to your blog if you are not a writer. This is done by searching an article directory for your keyword niche. WordPress can also be used as a membership site, a sales page and so much more. There are paid for themes that are inexpensive that will allow you to create a squeeze page and a sales page on your blog using the pages function that looks exactly like an html page.
I could go on and on about all this but for someone who wants to avoid the steep learning curve required to get a website online and up and running and who doesn’t have a log of money you can’t beat WordPress.
